SIGNS YOUR BRAKES NEED SERVICE | MYRTLE BEACH, SC

No matter how well your vehicle drives, you're in big trouble without proper stopping power. At Hyatt Buick GMC, our expert service team is always available to help you with all of your maintenance needs, including both minor and serious brake issues.
NEW NOISES
If your vehicle is making new and unusual noises while driving, it's a sure sign that its brakes need service. Detecting sounds from your vehicle's brakes is one of the best ways to catch warning signs early and service the brakes before further damage occurs. You might notice a high-pitched squealing if your vehicle's brakes are starting to go bad, while a harsh, metallic grinding sound usually indicates that the brake pads are completely worn through and service is immediately necessary.

PULLING
If you ever notice your vehicle consistently pulling to one direction, even when you direct it elsewhere, this could be a sign of serious brake troubles. A caliper could be stuck inside the brake system, applying braking power to one wheel even when the brakes aren't engaged.

HARD PEDALS
You shouldn't have to stomp the brake pedal to get stopping power. If the car jerks to a stop too quickly when you apply the brakes, this is another sign that your brakes probably need service.
VIBRATIONS
If you feel vibrations when you hit the brakes, it's a sign that your vehicle needs service. Often, this is an indicator of warped rotors that unevenly contact the surface of the brake pads, resulting in a vibrating sensation and an uneven application of brake power.

SOFT BRAKING
Soft, mushy brakes can compromise your stopping power. If your brake pedal sinks to the floor without much resistance, this could indicate a number of problems, including a brake fluid leak or a break in the line.

WORN BRAKE PADS
While it's always best to have a trained technician inspect your brakes, you can visually examine the width of your brake pads to assess their overall health. If they're looking thin, it's time to have them replaced.
